Updated: Jan 29, 2020

On this date 51 years ago, April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. assassination at the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis Tennessee. MLK is best known for his dramatic speeches and his most famous "I Have a Dream Speech". At the end of the speech, he prophetically expresses a premonition of his own assassination that will occur later that day.
Two months later, on June 6, 1968, Robert F Kennedy was assassinated at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. MLK and RFK were closely tied in both their lifetimes as they are linked with the deaths. Here is a moving clip of RFK addressing a predominantly white audience in Indianapolis where he announces the MLK assassination to the stunned crowd. Both of these great men will be remembered as leaders of the American civil rights movement, that pushed for peace and embraced initiatives to end to poverty.
